Tower of Babel and the Stairway to Heaven

In Genesis 11, all the people of the world came together speaking the same language. They settled in Babylonia and build a city with a tall towel to unite their people. God saw this and, regarding them as a threat to his plans, dispersed them far and wide with different languages so that they couldn't understand each other. That's how the city got its name Babel.

Now, a lot of people regard Christianity as a strict series of steps that must be taken in order to climb the "stairway" to Heaven. I'm convinced as a follower of Christ that it's not like that at all. Those who let Jesus into their heart are already saved and welcome in God's kingdom. Now, with this being the case, many would ask why we continue to follow God's teaching. Based on my experience in reading the Bible, I believe that we are to use this short life to live for him and continue his work here on Earth. We may be saved, but that doesn't mean we need to waste the precious time we have on Earth.
