Of Stalkers and Wishes

Picture the story of a young girl that is being constantly stalked by this creepy man who is crazy for her. She attempts to do everything to get away, but eventually gives up and begs a parent to get a restraining order. This forever hinders the creepy stalker from physically getting to her, but never quiets his beating heart for this impossible to reach girl. This is pretty much what happened to Daphne (the girl) and Apollo (the creepy man). In this story, Apollo questions Eros' shooting ability clearly offending the god. So, Eros being a smartbutt, decides to shoot two arrows - one with gold at the end representing love, and one with lead at the end representing hate for love. He managed to hit Apollo with the golden arrow and Daphne with the lead arrow. This must have been amusing to Eros watching Apollo chase furious and tiring Daphne. Finally at the end of the chase, Daphne prayed to her father, a water god, to save her. He then turned her into a Laurel Tree. Apollo still found this tree to be attractive and wished it to be forever green. Apollo then made himself a ring of Laurel leaves and placed it onto his head.

Being forever youthful would have its ups and downs as every life already does. At first, it would be amazing never aging while others have to deal with old age and withering bodies, you would be just the same and just as active. However, soon your friends will grow old with age and experience leaving you behind in the dust. They pass away leaving you behind to fend for yourself. Another problem with being forever youthful is that if you meet the love of your life, they would soon (in relative to your actual age on earth) die. You would have to see them suffer and die many times over like Calypso, who never got to keep her love.
