Babylon

In this story, God decided that the people of earth had become too powerful. They had come together and united to build a massive tower to heaven. Everyone was united, in the same place, and spoke the same language. God decided that to limit power, he should divide the people between the different continents and give them different languages. Because people are limited by their cultural and language differences, they will never unite with such power again. In my opinion, god was almost flaunting his power here.

If I could learn any language, it would be Arabic. The reason the Arabic language is so interesting to me is that I see it as a modern day Latin. Like Latin, it is a very basic language that is used in many developing countries. Because it is used in many developing countries, it is also developing many different dialects. As time passes, these dialects are separating more and more, and eventually will be different languages. In the case of Latin, languages like Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese all developed. While this probably will not happen to Arabic in my lifetime, it is still very interesting to me.
