Daphne and the Laurel Wreath

Apollo, being the god of archery and all, teased Cupid about his supposedly subpar archery skills, which really ticked Cupid off. Seeking revenge, he shot an arrow that would fill whoever was hit with it with insatiable lust at Apollo and another that would fill whoever was hit with it with disgust at Daphne. Apollo became crazed with desire and would chase Daphne around all the time trying to get her to marry him. But Daphne got sick and tired, and prayed to her father, a water god, for help. Her dad then turned her into a laurel tree and Apollo adopted the laurel as one of his symbols.

What makes being young so fun is the fact that it's fleeting. Sure, it'd be nice to be forever fit and what have you, but then you wouldn't ever get to experience other milestones, like buying your very own house. You'd be stuck living with your parents because no one would take you seriously because of how young you looked. Then there's all those really sad stories about staying eternally young, like Everlasting Tuck. Everyone you love would die, and you would just be all alone. Wouldn't that be incredibly depressing? And if being eternally youthful meant turning into a tree, you'd probably get chopped down and turned into a house anyways.
