Daphe and Eternal Youth

So basically, Apollo made fun of Eros for some reason. Eros turns around and makes Apollo (via an ill fated golden arrow) "follow in love" with the virgin Daphne, whom Eros prevents Daphne from loving. This causes Apollo to be said and chase after her into the river of Peneus (Daphne's father). Peneus transformed her into a laurel tree to hide her from Apollo, out of which made a sacred laurel wreath. He promised her that she'd also have eternal youth like he did. It's safe to say that the guy just couldn't let it go. How pathetic.

On a brighter note, in response to Evan's post about Jack Wilshere, I find it only appropriate that I use my commentary section of this post to talk about another soccer player from my favorite club who is defying the laws of youth and age. Over the summer, Chelsea FC, the London-based rival of Arsenal (Evan's club), signed 41-year old Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer of Australia. The guy may be way past the typical retirement age for most professional, but he can still play at an elite level. Talk about a guy who's trying to live an eternal youth. Schwarzer was on both the 2006 and 2010 World Cup rosters for Australia and has also helped lead them to qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. After a long stint at fellow London club Fulham, he will serve out the remainder of his career as the substitute goalkeeper to Petr Cech and will likely go down as one of the best goalkeepers in recent Premier League history.

EPL Standings (as of today)
1. Arsenal 19 Pts
2. Chelsea 17 Pts
3. Liverpool 17 Pts
4. Manchester City 16 Pts
5. Southampton 16 Pts

18. Norwich City 7 Pts
19. Crystal Palace 3 Pts
20. Sunderland 1 Pt

20 teams total are in the league (Bottom 3 are relegated to the lower division and the top 4 qualify for the Champions League, which is just fancy for the European Club Soccer Championship Tournament)
