The Laurel Wreath and Daphne

In this story, Apollo gets on the bad side of Eros, who can shoot magic arrows to decide love. As it turns out, Cupid is a dick, and he shoots Apollo with a golden arrow to make him fall in love with a nymph named Daphne. He also shoots Daphne with a lead arrow to make sure she will never feel the same about Apollo. Apollo follows Daphne to Daphne's father, Penis, err.. Peneus' river. Apollo, using his powers as a god, and a suave ladies man, convinced Daphne to bathe in the river. Daphne asks her father for help and she is turned into a Laurel tree. From this, Apollo crafts a Laurel wreath that he vows to keep young with him for eternity. This was somewhat strange, as he quickly went from being a molester to a sentimentalist.

For all eternity, people have been after the concept of eternal youth. Generally this has been because people are afraid of death, but others are motivated by other factors such as vanity. Whatever the motive, this is no real fountain of youth. But what causes physical aging, or senescence? Scientists have different theories about what in the body causes it, but most agree that aging and natural death are important for the natural processes of an evolution. But what will happen if or when we find the fountain of youth, and figure out how to stop our biological clocks? Will it become illegal to do? Will birth restrictions be enacted? Or will we overpopulate and allow it to be our own demise? Nobody knows if it it possible or what would happen, but honestly I hope we don't find out
