Pandora's Box

The story of Pandora's Box begins with a Titan, Prometheus, who was ordered to create man. He then decided to steal fire from heaven, which angered Zeus. So then a pissed-off Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create woman, and Hephaestus made her from water and earth. They called this woman Pandora, and the other gods supplied her with gifts: Athena gave her clothes, Aphrodite gave her beauty, and Hermes gave her speech. To get back at Prometheus for stealing fire, Zeus gave Pandora to Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus, to marry. As a wedding gift, Zeus supplied Pandora with a pithos (a storage jar), and instructed her not to open the jar. Pandora, as a result of her curiosity (given to her by the gods), opened the jar and unleashed all evil spirits that were trapped in the jar. The only spirit that remained was Hope, named Elpis.

An evil I'd like to squelch is lying. It's a basic evil that has many different variations but it's harmful nonetheless. I believe it would better the world to rid the world of lies, even if little white lies are easier than the truth. And now to quote the Candor faction manifesto from Divergent (am I sorry about this? Not really): "Dishonesty is rampant. Dishonesty is temporary. Dishonesty makes evil possible...Truth makes us transparent. Truth makes us strong. Truth makes us inextricable."
