Cain and Abel were the two sons of Adam and Eve and give us a picture of how siblings would behave in the years to come. Cain was the first human born, and Abel was the first to die because Cain murdered him. Now most families have some sibling rivalries or maybe the siblings even hate each other, but this was taken to an even more extreme level! He committed murder to his own brother! Some interpretations say that Cain was an offspring of Satan. This story is a lesson for all families and siblings. It can make you realize that even if you fight with your siblings a lot, at least you didn't murder your siblings... Cain felt that God loved Abel more, contributing to the final outcome. Cain was a farmer while Abel was a Shepard. Their story can make us thankful for our siblings and even when you say "I want to kill you right now" hopefully you will realize you shouldn't joke about this matter.
When people talk about hating their siblings, I don't really understand. I do not relate with this story because my sister and I have an amazing relationship. We are basically the same person, talk the same, look like twins, laugh the same, laugh at everything, and I have looked up to her and followed her footsteps for most of my life. We rarely ever fight, and if we do, it is due to me not calling her enough in college because she wants to talk to me more. We're both competitive people, me probably much more, but it never has caused too much conflict. So we don't have too many rivalries that lead to fights with the words "I want to kill you." I would never say that to her.
Here's a picture of my sister. See, we like each other!!!!
