And as for a terrible thing I'd like to "squelch" (what an interesting word to say), I'd probably like to squelch jealousy. Jealousy is a very common problem noted by many faiths. Even the Bible addresses it in the Ten Commandments warning us not to covet what our neighbors have. I think jealousy has started to creep into politics a lot too. Everyone seems in it for themselves. For example, every member of Congress would kill for some pork barrel legislation: legislation that only benefits their district or state (Yes, I was paying attention in AP Gov). I think to combat jealousy successfully would make the world a much brighter and happier place for all of us as we would not feel the need to take away from others or separate ourselves in some distinct way to boost our self esteem.

Pandora's Box and Why we should SQUELCH Jealousy
In Greek Mythology, Zeus tried go get revenge on Prometheus for giving humans fire without his consent. To do so, he had a daughter made (Pandora) and sent down to the Earth to marry Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus. Zeus also gave her and Epimetheus a box and key and told them not to open it. After awhile, Pandora's curiosity got the best of her and she stole the key from her husband to open the box. When she did, she unleashed all these terrible things into the world such Hate, Disease, and Crime. However, the one good thing she did unleash was hope.
