Cain and Abel

In the story of Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve gave birth to the first non-created humans. Cain was a farmer, and Abel was a shepherd. When God asked them each to sacrifice something, Abel was generous and gave a lamb, while Abel sacrificed grain which was not as important to him. At which point God realizes this, he begins to favor Abel over Cain. Once Cain realizes Abel is preferred by god, he kills him thinking God would only have him to love. After God questions Cain and realizes he killed his brother, he punishes him by taking his ability to farm and forcing him to wander the land.
This story focused on generosity and jealousy. Originally, Abel was the most generous, and God rewarded him for this. After Cain noticed this, he became jealous and murdered his own brother. These are portrayed as opposite traits, with generosity being the obvious positive one.

My brother, who is two years younger than me, fights with me constantly. While we do have conflict, it is not caused by jealousy. The real thing that causes us, and every other pair of same gender siblings, to fight is the maturity gap. While two years is not a great difference, kids mature greatly in two years. Because of this difference, it is very hard for siblings to interact without one being annoyed by the other's maturity level.
