The story consists of Pygmalion, the king of Cyprus, and Galatea, his ivory statue. Pygmalion had an especially difficult time finding a woman to date that weren't rude or selfish or any other bad quality. He despised these traits and was depressed because he couldn't find a perfect woman. For comfort, Pygmalion turned to art, sculpting an extraordinary statue out of ivory that was so delicate that no woman could ever be so beautiful. He fell in love with this ivory statue and named his creation Galatea. Pygmalion, now desperately in love with ivory Galatea, dressed and decorated his woman with robes, necklaces, and rings. He kept touching the statue just to remind himself that she wasn't alive. This all changed when, at the festival of Aphrodite, Pygmalion prayed at the alter for a wife like his statue. Aphrodite, hearing his prayer granted his wish. When Pygmalion returned home that night, he discovered that she had been given life.
Picking just one character to bring to life poses an impossible challenge. I would say any of the Harry Potter characters or Pride and Prejudice characters, but they have already come to life in the movies. I would say any of the Ender's Game characters or The Book Thief characters, but the they will come to life in the movies soon. I would like a magical character or one of the Incredibles to come to life, but then chaos would erupt in the world. With all of the realistic problem that a character would cause put aside, I would like Sherlock Holmes brought to life. Being in his presence and watching his ability to notice minute details, would be absolutely incredible. Not only would many acts of violence and murder be understood and solved, but his abilities would also be useful in the political debates and correcting the country leadership (theoretically) that he could revolutionize the way we think as humans.
