Hello friends,
If you haven't heard yet, we're reading The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. It's a comedy, so it has to be funny, right? While reading it I admittedly laugh at odd places where I'm almost certain it's not meant to be funny, but I do laugh at the collectively funny jokes, too. Such as on page 7 when Algernon says, "There is no objection, I admit, to an aunt being a small aunt, but why an aunt, no matter what her size may be, should call her own nephew her uncle, I can't quite make out." I also quite enjoyed when Lane "gravely" proclaims "There were no cucumbers in the market this morning, sir. I went down twice." (14).
I had an odd sense of humor. Sometimes I laugh at things and sometimes I don't. There's mirandasings on YouTube, who I love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exIPDxm-5nk. Then there's runforthecube, who does amazing covers of great songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btndHOYkCJ0. And Key & Peele, they're very funny to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcbj8BBsWSA. I tend to laugh at all my own jokes because I am the funniest person I know. I love sarcasm and dry humor but I equally go into tears of laughter over immature and illogical humor. Some of my favorite things to watch other than odd YouTube videos are Saturday Night Live, How I Met Your Mother, and any Starkid show.
